My Top 10 Most Repurchased Items at Trader Joe’s

I love grocery shopping… but I {really} dislike most grocery stores. Rather than tell you my dislikes, let me tell you about a grocery store I do like: Trader Joe’s!

  • Fewer aisles. I know exactly how many aisles there are in my local Trader Joe’s – four. I love that it’s not a mega-store with bazillions of aisles of food {that, let’s be honest, is mostly fake… aka, processed}.
  • Tasty food. After talking with people who have never been to Trader Joe’s, I think there’s a misconception by many that it’s a health store. It’s not. Like any food store, there are  healthy options and there are unhealthy options. I do, however, find it easier to live a healthier lifestyle by shopping at Trader Joe’s. {Although I do splurge on some treats too, as you’ll soon see below.}
  • Inexpensive organics. Most of the produce has an organic option that is usually just a few cents more.
  • No coupons. I never have to worry that I’m not getting the best deal available on an item. When I shop at a regular grocery store, I always wonder if there’s a coupon that I’m missing. Trader Joe’s has great prices on most everything, every day.
  • Friendly people. At the end of my shopping trip, I don’t need to load my food onto a conveyor belt. Instead, I just wheel my cart up to a register and chit-chat with a friendly TJ worker who usually makes me laugh and seems to genuinely like his/her job.

10 Favorites from Trader Joe’s

As mentioned above, I love to buy organic produce at Trader Joe’s. I stock up every week or two. In addition to this, I also have several favorite shelf and frozen items that I find myself buying time and again. Below are ten of my favorites…

5 Found on the Shelf

  1. Breakfast Trek Mix: includes 10 pouches of snack mix that are perfect for grabbing on-the-go.
  2. Organic White Corn Tortilla Chips & Chunky Salsa: technically this is two items, but I don’t buy one without the other.
  3. Granola Bars: these things should really be called candy bars – they are covered with chocolate after all.
  4. 12 Grain Crackers: bite-size and ideal for pairing with some cheese and a pear for a snack {it’s our alternative to the ever-popular gold fish cracker}.
  5. Joe Whole Bean Coffee: our favorite cup ‘o joe and just $4.99.

5 Found in the Freezer

  1. BBQ Chicken Pizza: this stuff rivals homemade and delivery.
  2. Breaded Chicken: the highest quality chicken strip that I’ve found in stores, kid- and adult-approved.
  3. Roasted Vegetable Lasagna: an easy meal to keep on hand for when dinner just doesn’t come together.
  4. Fire-Roasted Bell Peppers & Onions: makes fajita night super easy.
  5. Organic Tropical Fruit Blend: our go-to frozen fruit to throw into protein smoothies.

  1. Thanks for the recommendations. Several I haven’t tried, but will! I like TJ’s individual frozen spinach lasagna. Handy when lunching or dining ‘single’ and only 300 calories.

  2. Great list!! I LOVE the Breakfast Trek Mix too – yum!!

  3. I LOVE Trader Joe’s. The simply almond, cashews, and cranberry mix is one of my favorites. For a splurge with tortilla chips, I really like their spinach artichoke dip. I frequently buy the Just Fruit bars, organic frozen fruit, almond butter, and bruschetta. I also have some favorite not so healthy seasonal treats I sometimes get. 🙂 Saves me so much money shopping there – especially on produce and nut butter!

    • We love the fruit bars too! Thanks for sharing your favs… I have some new things to try! It’s not a huge store, but there is still so much that I haven’t tried.

  4. The kids and I all love the Fuji freeze dried apples…they are a wonderful healthy snack option. I usually buy like 9 bags of them when I make it into Trader Joes. The cherry preserves are another household staple that I make sure I stay stocked with at all times. Next time I go to Trader Joe’s I will pick up a few of your favorites and give them a whirl.
